Groupe Developpement, an international human rights organisation (www.gd-southasia.org), invites amateur and professional photographers to document issues of social security of children and adolescents in South Asia.

Groupe Developpement intends to promote the work of upcoming and talented photographers on issues of child protection in the region. The objective of the programme is to promote awareness on the social and political contexts that affect the security of children in India, Bangladesh and Nepal. At the same time, Groupe Developpement intends to support and promote interests of social documenters on issues of child rights.

The works will be exhibited to local, national and international audiences in various ways through a variety of innovative tools and media.

About Groupe Developpement:

Groupe Developpement’s child protection programme works towards elimination of child abuse, violence and exploitation and supports education, training and protection of those children who are particularly vulnerable to violence. In India, Bangladesh and Nepal, it works in partnership with child rights organisations – both in rural and urban areas of these countries.

Some of the at-risk groups of children and adolescents we work with include:

(a) rural adolescent girls who are potential victims of trafficking and unsafe migration that happens in the garb of work and marriage;

(b) street and railway children who are disconnected from their families and living on their own;

(c) children living in red-light areas who are vulnerable to second-generation prostitution; and

(d) children and adolescent victims of trafficking, sexual abuse, exploitation and violence.

Profile:

• Young and dynamic amateur, but talented photographers, who wish to work on social development issues concerning children.
• Young professional photographers who would like to develop their work on social development issues concerning children.
• Should have an understanding of social issues and a sensitive eye for detail.
• Sociable, with the ability to interact with different groups of people.
• Technically sound in photo-editing software like Photoshop, Coral etc.
• Ability to work independently and to meet deadlines.

Support:

• Groupe Developpement will support photographers with the fields of their subjects, support them with information and logistical support, and support them with costs of their travel and stay in the course of their assignment.
• The assignment is purely on a voluntary basis, wherein the photographer is expected to bring her/his equipment.
• Photographers must work in accordance with the child protection and media policies of Groupe Developpement.
• Copyrights of the photographs will remain with the photographers; Groupe Developpement will retain the right of using the photographers without additional consent from the photographer.
